My inspiration: Stone, IM Pei's Louvre Museum, Miho Museum and Beijing National Stadium
The model that I've made
Material: Leatherloid, styrofoam, rubberband
Scale: 1:20
As a die heart fan of I.M. Pei, I am strongly impressed by his design principles. One of his principles is the designing with geometry. When we take a look at two masterpieces of him such as Louvre Museum in France and MIHO Museum in Japan, we can see that they are aligned with many triangles. I love the way the shadow projected on the structure. That's why I cut some triangles and rectangles windows on my model. Moreover, I love the appearance of Beijing National Stadium so much. It is known as a bird's net. I tried to add this component in my model and found it so beautiful and match my written statement- Light and Shadows. Also, the reason why I made it as a stone is because I want it to be a natural resource of the environment which is a part of the environment when it is placed somewhere. Last but not least, I made the floor in a triangle shape but not rectangular shape is that I want people on the first and second floor able to see each other. People nowadays, especially families, lack of communication. With such a design, it not only creates an aesthetic look but also boosts people's communication.
I have photographed it with different angles and positions of the light source. I have found that shadows move along with the light source. It gives me an idea of my 100-word written statement.
